Balatongyörök is the most beautiful holiday resort on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. In the Roman ages it was a well-known settlement, today the Roman Spring reminds us of the past beneath the "Szépkilátó". Our Youth Hostel can be found right here. The neighbourhood boasts countless tourist curiosities like the lake-cave in Tapolca, the famous vineyards in Badacsony, the Africa Museum in Balatonederics, Szigliget, the Sümeg castle where knightly performances of medieval times grant memorable experiences, and Keszthely with the Balaton Museum, numerous historic monuments and the Festetics Castle. The distinguished Hévíz medicinal bath is situated in the vicinity of Keszthely. In the surrounding of this area the Keszthely Mountains offer tourists unique opportunities to make excursions along the blue tour routes. One can make trips to Lake Balaton from the town's railway station and the pier.
