Lake Tisza tourism perks up on 2007 'Nature year'

Hírszerkesztő , 5 December 2007 17:00

Tourism in Hungary's eastern Lake Tisza region reversed a declining trend of three years in 2007, the regional director of the tourism promotion office Magyar Turizmus said on Wednesday.

[MTI] Guest nights in the region are expected to rise by 12 percent in 2007 compared to last year, amounting to 262,000 overall, Anita Molnar said.

A Nature Tourism campaign got underway in Hungary in 2007, which helped perk up interest in Lake Tisza and its surroundings. Several tourism programmes, including the setting up of a network of tourism centres, a quiz game on the region, and a series of nature walk events and cycling trips were launched this year, she said.
