Central-European Rally

Hungary has got the opportunity of hosting one of the greatest international sport and media-event. For Hungary this event is bearing outstanding importance from tourism and country-marketing as well as sports-professional point of view.

Dakar Series

First time in the history of the Dakar Rally in January 2008 the A.S.O, the license owner, the organizing company come to the conclusion of canceling the race due to terror threats. The organizers after considering the structure of the Dakar, announced to launch a new rally series called Dakar Series. Hungary was selected to be the first location of the rally.

The Central-European Rally

The Dakar Series Central European Rally (CER), also known as the Central-European Rally will start from Budapest, end in Balatonfüred and will include 4 Hungarian and 3 Romanian (Transylvanian) stages. All specials will be held on military shooting ranges which often host similar adventures. On the so called connections the vehicles of the race will have to keep the local traffic regulations and to make sure, the organizers will set up speed control check points.

Similarly to the Dakar Rally, the competitors can enter 3 vehicle categories (motor, quad and car or truck) on the Central-European Rally and can choose between 2 race categories: professional and amateur. According to the entries received by the A.S.O so far 250 competitors (100 cars, 100 motors, 20 trucks) will set off on the race organized as the replacement of the Dakar Rally on the spring of 2008.
