Hungary finished tenth in the 2008 ranking of tourist destination countries offering value for money, compiled by the Weber Shandwick public relations firm and the FutureBrand brand consultancy for the fourth time.

The 2008 survey was conducted by asking the opinion of 2,700 people who travel around the world on business and as tourists. In this year's ranking questions included average living standards, level of technical development, the status of political liberties and the quality of goods and services in each country.

The 2008 survey also measured gastronomy, businesses and safety.

Hungary ended up tenth among the top destinations offering the biggest bang for the buck, while among its Central and Eastern European neighbours, the Czech Republic ranked fourth and Poland fifth.

Australia remained the world's top country for the third consecutive year, according to the 2008 Country Brand Index (CBI).
